The purpose of the Certified Fire Protection Specialist CFPS certification exam is to provide a basis for check the competency of candidates seeking the Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation.

Eligibility Criteria for CFPS Exam:

Candidates of NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist CFPS exam should meet one of the following criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or other related discipline, plus two years of verifiable work experience.
• Associate’s degree in engineering, technology or other related discipline, plus four years of verifiable work experience.
• High school diploma plus six years of verifiable work experience.

Registration for NFPA CFPS Certification Exam:

All candidates must register to take the NFPA CFPS certification exam. All questions on the application must be answered else the form will not be processed.
Incomplete Certified Fire Protection Specialist applications will be returned if not submitted in complete form prior to the application deadline.

Deadlines:

Certified Fire Protection Specialist registration must be processed and approved four weeks prior to the CFPS exam date.

Cost:

Cost of the Certified Fire Protection Specialist exam is $350. $125 retest fee if re-taken within 1 year of original examination.

Examination results:

CFPS will mail exam results approximately four weeks after the NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist exam.
